BITINC Does It Again!

New 5.0 Version of Claims-2-Ezcap processes
1,000 claims per hour per user

First reports by clients piloting Bowman Interface Technologies, Inc.'s 5.0 version of Claims-2-Ezcap indicate that new capabilities have significantly reduced the input time for entering electronic claims into the EZ-CAP® managed care system. Bowman Interface Technologies, Inc., the oldest and leading provider of electronic claims inload to OAO's the EZ-CAP® managed care systemmanaged care system, has set the benchmark for EDI interfaces into the EZ-CAP® managed care systemsince 1994. Users of previous versions of Claims-2-Ezcap were able to load 700-2,000 claims per day per user depending on claim data quality. The new 5.0 version has bench marked about 1,000 claims per hour per user.

"We reduced our claims processing time by over 50% using the new 5.0 version of Bowman Interface Technologies' Claims-2-Ezcap compared to their previous version. For an NSF file, we were able to correct member problems and load into EZ-LINK® over 2,700 claims in about 3 hours . Excluding the EZ-LINK inload time it was easy for a single user to process 1,000 claims per hour using this new 5.0 version of Claims-2-Ezcap. We are just thrilled!" stated Steve Hoisch IT Manager of Medpoint Management one of the first pilot sites for the 5.0 product.

Dr. V. Joseph Bowman, Jr., president of Bowman Interface Technologies, Inc., commented that "we were so sure that we were going to significantly improve claims throughput with this product that we went directly from version 3.1 to version 5.0.; however, the rate is even beyond our optimistic goals." Dr. Bowman indicated that this rate significantly changes the cost structure of EDI claims inloading so that even small IPA's can afford to handle electronic claims processing. Benchmarks for manual claims input into the EZ-CAP® managed care systemhave traditionally been between 125-250 claims per day, meaning that one person could enter around 5,000 claims per month. Using the new version of Claims-2-Ezcap one is now talking about several processor hours rather than a processor-month for claims entry.

Even in the world of EDI, the new claims input speed is significant. Most people have been bench marking 2,000 claims per day as "desirable" EDI throughput. Now we are talking about a rate that is 4 times faster.

Bowman also predicted that the new Version 5.1, scheduled for release in third quarter of this year, will reduce throughput at least an additional 10%.

"This increase in speed is also affecting the user's perception of bottlenecks. In fact, the people piloting our system are now beginning to ask about improving some of our minor algorithms because they are now perceiving them as bottlenecks when prior to the speed improvements their functionality was more than adequate. Even the actual EDI inload function in the EZ-CAP® managed care systemis coming under scrutiny. Previously the actual insertion of claims into the the EZ-CAP® managed care systemdatabase constituted 5-10% of the entire claims inload process. Our pilots are now indicating that the inload time is now in the 25-35% range" said Dr. Bowman

While many vendors are struggling to deliver software that will process data under the new HIPAA/EDI directives, Bowman Interface Technologies continues to raise the EDI throughput bar.

The new version will be available to current customers July 15.

DaFoDiL® Now Reads HIPAA

All BITINC products that use DaFoDiL® can now read and write X12 format natively. This means that users may now easily satisfy one of the HIPAA requirements of accepting claims in X12 837 formatting for Claims-2-Ezcap and for sending claims in X12 837 for the Ezcap-2-Payerand Claims-2-Payer products. This includes both Professional and Institutional claims. Since the X12 format is native to DaFoDiL®, you get the same quick response on all products "powered by DaFoDiL®" that you have become accustomed to for form and record formats.

Claims-2-Ezcap has been reading X12 claims since the original HIPAA deadline of October 2002. If you need X12 compatibility for any of our DaFoDiL® powered products, they only require additional licensing of the appropriate X12 837 templates. Please note there are separate templates for Professional and Institutional versions of X12 837 version 4010A.

Ezcap-2-Payer

Ezcap-2-Payer is the easiest way to send encounter data directly to your payers. We provide a complete turnkey solution working with your payer to ensure data accuracy. Ezcap-2-Payer is powered by DaFoDiL so it is capable of sending data in any format acceptable to your payer. This includes NSF and any proprietary formats, and X12 837 both institutional and professional.
